Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, ’59, 79XXX
£8,000.00
Beautiful condition original lacquer Mark VI alto.
Condition: Beautiful original condition
Age: 1959
Selmer Mk VI saxophones are probably the most revered of all the vintage horns. Played worldwide by discerning professionals as well as being sought after by collectors, they are wonderful instruments. Production started in 1954 and ran until 1975 and most modern saxophones since then have been, in one way or another, an attempt at a Mk VI copy. They really should be on the trial list for any serious player.
This Mark VI alto has the serial number 79XXX which makes its year of production 1959. This really is one of the most desirable years/serials for Mark VI’s and this horn is in beautiful original condition. It has very little lacquer loss and the lacquer is a beautiful honey gold colour. The horn shows no signs of any soldering or any major repairs and the neck is also in lovely condition with no damage or signs of any pull down. The engraving is beautifully crisp and it is blowing a dream with a pretty recent set of pads in it.
As with all of our instruments, trials are both recommended and encouraged. Please book an appointment or get in touch if you would like any more information
