Bargain re-lacquered Mark VI tenor.

Selmer Mk VI saxophones are probably the most revered of all the vintage horns. Played worldwide by discerning professionals as well as being sought after by collectors, they are wonderful instruments. Production started in 1954 and ran until 1975 and most modern saxophones since then have been, in one way or another, an attempt at a Mk VI copy. They really should be on the trial list for any serious player.

This Mark VI tenor has the serial number 86XXX which makes its year of production 1960. This is one of the most desirable years/serials for Mark VI’ tenor and this horn blows every bit as well as you’d want from one with this pedigree. It has also just been fully re-padded in pisoni pro pads and is ready to go for its next owner. However; it has seen some serious action in its life, hence the price. It has been re-lacquered at some point and there is some evidence of previous repair work, including the odd solder repair. None of these is particularly ugly but evidence is there nonetheless. The neck has been pulled down at some point and repaired with a patch.

If you’re looking for a great playing horn without breaking the bank then this may be right up your street.

As with all of our instruments, trials are both recommended and encouraged. Please book an appointment or get in touch if you would like any more information
