Selmer Balanced Action Tenor Saxophone, ’37, 24XXX
£6,000.00
Amazing blowing BA tenor
Condition: Great condition
Age: 1937
Selmer Mk VI saxophones are probably the most revered of all the vintage horns. Played worldwide by discerning professionals as well as being sought after by collectors, they are wonderful instruments and really should be on the trial list for any serious player. Though not as sought after as the Mark VI’s, their predecessors are also well worth checking out. Selmer Balanced Action (BA) horns, and Super Action (SBA) horns offer a fantastic alternative as a pro horn. They still retain that ‘french’ sounding focus but sound more spread and open than most Mark VI’s.
This BA tenor has the serial number 24XXX which makes its year of production 1937. It is finished in bare brass and shows evidence of a previous re-lacquer. As such, the engraving is not terribly clear. There is no sign of any major previous damage or any nasty repairs and it is a beautiful horn to look at. As a player it is everything you might expect from a horn of this calibre and era in both sound and ergonomics. It is truly a joy to play. It benefits from a recent roo pad overhaul and is blowing amazing.
As with all of our instruments, trials are both recommended and encouraged. Please book an appointment or get in touch if you would like any more information
