Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, ’57, 68XXX

£4,000.00

Good condition re-lacquered Mark VI alto.

Condition: Great condition
Age: 1957
Selmer Mk VI saxophones are probably the most revered of all the vintage horns. Played worldwide by discerning professionals as well as being sought after by collectors, they are wonderful instruments. Production started in 1954 and ran until 1975 and most modern saxophones since then have been, in one way or another, an attempt at a Mk VI copy. They really should be on the trial list for any serious player.

This Mark VI alto has the serial number 68XXX which makes its year of production 1957. This is one of the most desirable years/serials for Mark VI’s and this horn is in really nice condition. The horn shows no signs of any soldering or any major repairs and the neck is also in lovely condition with no damage or signs of any pull down. It comes with its original case which is in lovely condition as well as the original guarantee slip.

It has been re-lacquered at some point in its life but this has been well done and the engraving is still clear. The neck has had a pickup installed which could be removed if requested, but the original system comes with the horn and may be useable. The horn plays, and has a lovely warm, rich sound but is currently being sold needing a full overhaul and re-pad. The price reflects this and sensible offers are welcome.

As with all of our instruments, trials are both recommended and encouraged. Please book an appointment or get in touch if you would like any more information
