Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, ’62, 101XXX

£5,500.00

Beautiful original lacquer Mark VI alto.

Condition: Great condition
Age: 1962
Selmer Mk VI saxophones are probably the most revered of all the vintage horns. Played worldwide by discerning professionals as well as being sought after by collectors, they are wonderful instruments. Production started in 1954 and ran until 1975 and most modern saxophones since then have been, in one way or another, an attempt at a Mk VI copy. They really should be on the trial list for any serious player.
This Mark VI alto has the serial number 101XXX which makes its year of production 1962. It is finished in its original lacquer and is in beautiful condition. There are no signs of any major damage to the body or any nasty solder repairs. The neck is in good condition but has at some point had a pickup installed, see photos. This horn is awaiting a full re-pad and mechanical overhaul which will also include removing the neck pickup. Should you want to make an offer for the horn as it is and have the work done yourself, feel free to get in touch. Despite being on a set of old pads it is obvious this horn is, and will be, a wonderful player.

As with all of our instruments, trials are both recommended and encouraged. Please book an appointment or get in touch if you would like any more information
