Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone, ’68, 150XXX
£6,500.00
Lovely original lacquer, silver keys, Mark VI tenor.
Condition: Great condition
Age: 1968
Selmer Mk VI saxophones are probably the most revered of all the vintage horns. Played worldwide by discerning professionals as well as being sought after by collectors, they are wonderful instruments. Production started in 1954 and ran until 1975 and most modern saxophones since then have been, in one way or another, an attempt at a Mk VI copy. They really should be on the trial list for any serious player.
This Mark VI tenor has the serial number 150XXX which makes its year of production 1968. It is finished in its original lacquer with silver plated keys and is in beautiful condition. There are no signs of any major damage to the body or any nasty solder repairs. The neck appears as though it may have suffered a minor pull down at some point but this has been properly repaired and the horn shows no signs of suffering for this. It has a reasonably fresh set of pads in it and comes serviced and set up. As a player it is everything you might expect from a horn of this calibre and era in both sound and ergonomics. It is truly a joy to play.
As with all of our instruments, trials are both recommended and encouraged. Please book an appointment or get in touch if you would like any more information
