Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, ’54, 55XXX

Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, ’54, 55XXX

£5,250.00

Beautiful condition first year of production Mark VI.

Condition: Beautiful condition, lovely re-lacquer
Age: 1954
Selmer Mk VI saxophones are probably the most revered of all the vintage horns. Played worldwide by discerning professionals as well as being sought after by collectors, they are wonderful instruments. Production started in 1954 and ran until 1975 and most modern saxophones since then have been, in one way or another, an attempt at a Mk VI copy. They really should be on the trial list for any serious player.

This Mark VI alto has the serial number 55XXX which makes its year of production 1954. Whilst this horn had been re-lacquered, it is genuinely one of the nicest re-lacquers I have seen. The engraving is still lovely and clear and the colour is beautiful. It feels amazing under the fingers and sounds every bit as good as you’d expect for a horn of this calibre.

As with all of our instruments, trials are both recommended and encouraged. Please book an appointment or get in touch if you would like any more information
